MEET THE DIRECTOR
Dante Trinidad is an independent filmmaker whose journey to cinema began on the battlefields of Iraq. A former combat medic and Iraq War veteran, he carries into his filmmaking a rare combination of emotional precision, discipline, and lived experience. His work is defined by an unflinching honesty—stories shaped by the quiet tensions beneath the surface, the resilience forged in hardship, and the complex identities that emerge from trauma and cultural heritage.
Dante’s films, including the critically recognized Turmoil, blend technical rigor with raw human vulnerability. Working often with non‑actors and real combat veterans, he crafts performances that feel immediate and deeply lived‑in. His voice as a director is grounded in authenticity, shaped by years of caring for veterans as a nurse and by his own path through conflict, healing, and creative reinvention.
With each project, Dante continues to build a body of work that challenges assumptions, honors the communities he comes from, and explores the emotional landscapes that exist long after the smoke clears.
